European U17 Championship call for Sims

Young Saints winger Josh Sims has been named in England’s 18-man squad for this year’s UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Malta.

Sims, who has regularly represented Saints Under-18s and has sometimes represented the Development Squad this season, has been rewarded with an inclusion for the competition in May after aiding the Young Lions through the Elite Round qualifiers in the Czech Republic.

John Peacock’s side begin the tournament against the host nation on Friday 9th May when they face Malta at the National Stadium in Ta’Qali – kick-off 5pm BST.

Turkey are England’s next group opponents in an encounter at the Gozo Stadium which kicks off at 11.15am BST.

The final clash of that stage brings Holland, a side who Sims is familiar with after scoring against them and getting an assist in his international debut in February’s Algarve Tournament. The match with the Dutch kicks off at 11am BST at Hibernians Stadium in Paola.
