Southend reunion for Barnard

By SFC Media Fri 24 Jan Club

Striker Lee Barnard has rejoined his former side Southend United on loan until the end of the season, Saints can confirm.

The forward has been out of the first-team picture at St Mary's since Southampton were promoted to the Barclays Premier League in 2012.

Since then, Barnard spent loan spells with AFC Bournemouth and Oldham Athletic last season before returning to the south coast in the summer.

The 29-year-old now returns to Roots Hall, where he spent two successful seasons before moving to Saints in January 2010.

Barnard is eligible to play for the Shrimpers in tomorrow's FA Cup with Budweiser Fourth Round tie against Hull City, and will remain in Essex for the rest of the 2013/14 campaign.
