Saints in Spain!

Southampton's First Team squad has arrived at their base in Spain to begin their overseas training camp ahead of the 2013/14 season.

23 players departed from Southampton Airport this morning bounded for Girona, where they will be based for the next ten days.

The squad will then relocate to the Austrian resort of Wörthersee, where they will step up their preparations for the coming campaign.

The Spanish leg of the trip will take in regions known well to First Team Manager Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff, who have all spent time in Catalonia with their previous club RCD Espanyol.

Saints will play their first friendly of pre-season next Wednesday evening when they face UE Llagostera, before visiting Palamós CF on Saturday.

The following players have travelled to Spain:

Adam Lallana, Artur Boruc, Calum Chambers, Danny Fox, Dejan Lovren, Emmanuel Mayuka, Guly, Jack Cork, Jack Stephens, James Ward-Prowse, Jason Puncheon, Jay Rodriguez, Jordan Turnbull, Jos Hooiveld, José Fonte, Kelvin Davis, Lloyd Isgrove, Luke Shaw, Morgan Schneiderlin, Nathaniel Clyne, Paulo Gazzaniga, Rickie Lambert & Steven Davis

Maya Yoshida will link up with the squad over the weekend having been given an extended summer break following his involvement in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup with Japan.

New signing Victor Wanyama will also arrive in Spain in a few days' time, while Gastón Ramírez – who reached the last four of the Confederations Cup with Uruguay – is due to join up next week.
