Gaffer: Past Month Has Been 'No Holiday'

By SFC Media Tue 18 Jun Club

Only one month has passed since the final game of the 2012/13 season, but Mauricio Pochettino says he's already been hard at work for the upcoming campaign.

Saints completed their first signing of the summer over the weekend, when Croatian defender Dejan Lovren signed a four-year deal with the Club.

And Lovren's new manager says recruitment has formed just part of his agenda over the past four weeks as he gets set for his first full campaign in charge at St Mary's.

"It's a very important time – it's no holiday," Pochettino told Saints Player.

"This is a time to work hard because we're setting the objectives for next season.

"[We] work all day, because – not only for us, but for all of the team – this time is very important for the future of the Club and for the next season."

Pochettino's planning process will step up this week, when the Club finds out its schedule for the 2013/14 season.

However, the gaffer says he is fully-prepared for whoever the fixture computer throws his way at 9am tomorrow morning.

"For me, it's not important because you play all of the teams but it is [good] for the planning to know the first teams you'll play against," he reasoned.

"I'll stay prepared in pre-season and work hard for us to play against all teams."
