Mayuka In AFCON Action

Emmanuel Mayuka helped Zambia to another draw in the African Cup of Nations on Friday.

After making a late substitute appearance in the Chipolopolo’s 1-1 draw with Ethiopia on Monday in the holders’ opening game of this year’s competition, the lively forwarded was handed a start against Nigeria in his country's second group match.

Mayuka played the full 90 minutes against a Nigeria side which included fellow Premier League stars Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel.

Trailing to a first half goal from Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Emenike, opponents Nigeria also went on to miss a penalty through Mikel, before Zambia were dramatically awarded a spot kick of their own with five minutes remaining.

It was Mayuka who was brought down inside the area, but it was goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene who stepped up to send his opposite number the wrong way to earn a point for his side as both teams recorded successive 1-1 draws in the tournament.

Zambia play Burkina Faso in the last group game with a chance of qualifying for the knockout stages..
