The entire first team squad and coaching staff took time out of their busy schedule to visit patients at Southampton General Hospital on Tuesday.
With Christmas time rapidly approaching the trip was, as always, a poignant occasion for the team, who were supported by the Saints Foundation in spreading some much needed festive cheer to lift the spirits of the children unfortunate enough to be hospitalised at this time of year.
Players toured the Children’s wards distributing gifts to the youngsters ranging from Saints Official 2013 calendars to chocolates and soft toys, whilst Playstations and larger presents were donated to the wards.
All presents were paid for by the players themselves, with their contributions matched by the Saints Foundation to make sure there were plenty to go around and put a few extra smiles on people’s faces.
Starting from the specialised inpatient paediatric/psychiatric unit at Bursledon House, the squad made their way around the wards in two groups with hospital staff in tow, taking in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit amongst other wards.
The whole squad signed autographs and posed for photographs throughout afternoon, with their efforts warmly received by patients, adults and staff alike.
