Luke Shaw became the youngest-ever Saints player to appear in the Barclays Premier League on Monday, and the defender is hoping to cap his week with a home debut against Swansea tomorrow.
The 17 year-old came off the bench for the final ten-or-so minutes at West Bromwich Albion for what was his fourth appearance for the Club, having previously played in cup games at Millwall, Stevenage and Leeds this year.
Shaw was one of four youngsters to be promoted to Saints' First Team ahead of the current season, along with James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers and Jack Stephens.
And, despite the result not going his side's way on Monday, the left-sider was delighted to become our latest academy product to make his top-flight bow.
"When the gaffer told me I was coming on, my heart started pumping," Luke says in an interview with tomorrow's official matchday programme.
"I was so excited because playing in the Premier League is what I’ve wanted my whole life, and now I’ve got my chance.
"The game was on television so maybe there couldn’t have been a better time for me to make my debut because all my mates and my family were watching. It was amazing."
Shaw’s next aim is to make his first competitive appearance in front of a home crowd, with the starlet crossing his fingers that such an achievement could come against Swansea tomorrow afternoon.
"I’ve always wanted to play a Premier League game at St Mary’s in front of our home crowd – I can’t wait to feel what it’s like," he says.
"I’ve played at the stadium in the FA Youth Cup, so now I want to push on and play there in the Premier League.
"Tomorrow’s match will be the biggest game of our season so far because we’ve had a few bad results, so we need to get three points here.
"We’ll need the crowd to get behind us, and hopefully we can get the points for them."
Tomorrow's official matchday programme features full and exclusive interview with Luke Shaw, in which he discusses his ascent to the First Team, his footballing influences and his long-term aims and ambitions.
