By SFC Media Thu 11 Oct Club

Luke Shaw has been selected in the England Under-18 squad for a friendly against Italy later this month.

The Under-18s take on their Italian counterparts at Mansfield Town's One Call Stadium on Wednesday 24th October with a 7.30pm kick-off time.

This is Shaw's first involvement at Under-18 level, with him having featured regularly for the Under-16s and Under-17s over the past year-and-half.

The left-back made eight appearances for England's U17s, scoring in a 4-0 win over Latvia a year ago.

17-year-old Shaw has played twice for Saints' First Team, making his debut as a substitute in an FA Cup game at Millwall last season before earning his first start in the Capital One Cup victory over Stevenage in August.

He has also featured for our Under-21s in their last two games, playing a key role in the 3-3 draw at Manchester United earlier this week having captained the team against Stoke seven days earlier.

This summer, Shaw was one of four youngsters to be promoted into Saints First Team for the 2012-13 season. The other three – James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers and Jack Stephens – have all played for England since the campaign began.
