Alberto Seidi has earned a first ever call up to the Portuguese Under-21 squad.
The tall and prolific striker who turns 20 next month is included in Rui Jorge’s selection for a warm up match against Ukraine on 15th October, ahead of Portugal’s preparations for the 2013 European Championships.
Seidi arrived at Saints during 2011 with an impressive goal scoring record from Guinea Bissau Academy in West Africa.
He ended last season in good form for Saints’ U21s side with a number of key goals at the end of the campaign, and is now back up and running for Martin Hunter’s side after an injury setback during the close season which has restricted his involvement so far this term.
The call up is a further testament to the progressive work of the Football Development & Support Centre at Staplewood, who celebrated call ups for Calum Chambers and Jack Stephens with England’s Under-19s last week.
