Mario Lemina BiographyLast updated 09 Aug 2017
Former clubs: Lorient, Marseille, JuventusBorn in Libreville, Gabon in September 1993, the central midfielder started his playing career at the age of 11 with French side FC Lorient's youth academy.
He was promoted to the first team during the 2012-13 season and made 18 appearances before leaving for Marseille in 2013.
Lemina spent two seasons in Ligue 1 with Marseille, where he helped the club to a fourth-place finish in Ligue 1 the 2014-15 season.
He would make 55 appearances in total for the French club, scoring three times, with his performances seeing his reputation blossom.
Throughout the summer of 2015, the young midfielder attracted attention from a number of clubs, but eventually completed a season-long loan to Juventus.
The temporary switch to Italy came with an option of a permanent move at the end of the season, which the Old Lady activated on the 29th of April 2016.
During his time in with Juventus, Lemina won back-to-back Serie A and Coppa Italia titles.
His experience of competing for major titles does not end there, though, as he was also part of the squad that helped the Italian side reach last season's Champions League final.
Lemina came on as a 78th-minute substitute in Cardiff, although there was little he could do to prevent a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Spanish giants.
In total, the midfielder made 47 appearances for Juventus, before completing his club-record switch to St Mary's.
Internationally, despite representing France at junior level, the 23-year-old is now a part of the Gabon national side.
He featured for them in this year's Africa Cup of Nations, although injury limited his involvement to just a single appearance, while he is a key part of their ongoing 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, with Gabon currently second – behind Ivory Coast – after two games in their group.
