With just three points separating the top four sides in the Barclays Women’s Championship, the trip to Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park is set to be a key clash for Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s Saints.
Coming off the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to now top-of-the-table Charlton Athletic, Spacey-Cale was clear in her post-match interview that her side would need to do better in all aspects to get a result this weekend.
Palace currently occupy third place in the table, with a game in hand. They also boast a positive 21 goal difference, which is an indicator of their threat in attack. However, their last win came in the form of a closely contested 3-2 result against bottom Lewes.
With a record-breaking attendance promised at Selhurst Park, Sunday’s clash looks to be one of the biggest fixtures of the season so far.

MANAGER’S NOTES
“We know that we weren’t good enough against Charlton, and we gifted them a result in what we knew was an important game at the top end of the table.
“This week we were straight back on the training pitch to put things right, because there’s no time in this league to let focus slip after results.
“Palace are a much-changed side from last season, and have shown in their league campaign so far that they can hurt teams in attack.
“With all that in mind though, we’re more than capable of going out there, competing, and putting on a show for what will be another vocal Saints crowd.”
