Women scoop Peplow on a permanent
Southampton FC Women are delighted to announce the permanent signing of midfielder Chloe Peplow from Reading FC Women subject to FA approval.
Peplow joined Saints on loan for the second half of the 2022/23 Barclays Women’s Championship season, quickly establishing herself as a strong presence in the midfield.
Starting her career at Birmingham City when she was 16, she finished runners up in the Women’s FA Cup and WSL Cup with the Blues during her time there.
Following a loan spell with WSL2 side Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2017, Peplow spent time at Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur before signing with Reading in July 2021.
Before joining Saints, she was on loan at fellow Barclays Women’s Championship side Crystal Palace, making 7 appearances for the Eagles, including an appearance against Saints at Selhurst Park.
On making her move to Saints permanent, Peplow commented:
“I’m very excited to be here!
“For me, spending my three-month loan period here solidified the fact that this was somewhere that I wanted to call home.
“The club’s ambition, the places they want to go, the facilities and the infrastructure, as well as Marieanne and the group of girls were all reasons I wanted to make this move permanent.”
Speaking about Peplow’s return, Head Coach Marieanne Spacey-Cale remarked:
“I’m really pleased to bring Chloe back in.
“She obviously knows us from her loan spell last season and she was desperate to come back.
“We know she’s a fan favourite so they’ll be delighted with her signing on too.”
