We’re transforming connectivity at St Mary's Stadium
As a visitor to St Mary’s Stadium on matchdays, you may have noticed getting internet connectivity inside the ground can be a challenge. However, we have good news.
Following feedback on the issue from the Fan Advisory Board (FAB), we’ll now be working with a supplier to transform connectivity at St Mary’s. Work is scheduled to begin soon and due to be completed by early 2024.
With 30,000 fans in the same place all trying to send messages, make calls, or check scores simultaneously, mobile networks can’t always handle the traffic. But we recognise it’s an important part of our fans’ matchday experience, hence the need to act.
Our Chief Executive Officer, Phil Parsons said: "Following conversations with the FAB and fans at St Mary’s on matchdays, the importance of implementing Wi-Fi at the stadium has been made clear. We’ve repurposed some funds straight away to get this work done and it’ll allow us to interact more with our fans on matchdays. Wi-Fi is one area of the fan experience we plan to improve and there’ll be more announcements in the near future as we look to make St Mary’s even better, louder and a positive place to come on matchdays."
Mike Sadler is the Co-Chair of the Fan Advisory Board: “Supporters have consistently told the Fan Advisory Board that better connectivity in the stadium would massively improve their matchday experience and we’ve made it one of our priorities to work on with the club. We recognise this is a significant investment and are grateful to the club for taking this forward.”
From digital ticketing, to ordering food and drinks, information kiosks and real-time team updates - in stadium Wi-Fi will open opportunities for you on matchdays. If you have ideas or suggestions for the club regarding any of these or other similar initiatives, please feel free to get in touch with our Fan Advisory Board and share your views via [email protected].
