Ward-Prowse shortlisted for April Goal of the Month
James Ward-Prowse has received a nomination for April's Premier League Goal of the Month for his free-kick against Leeds United.
One of four free-kicks dispatched this season, the Saints captain stepped up to fire home a curling effort from 25 yards, beyond the reach of a hapless Illan Meslier to earn a 1-1 draw at Elland Road.
The England international now sits on 14 direct free-kick goals in the Premier League, four short of David Beckham's record of 18.
It's the second time Ward-Prowse has been shortlisted for the accolade in 2021/22, having previously made the shortlist for his free-kick against Wolves in January.
The 27-year-old is joined on the shortlist by Antonio Rüdiger (Chelsea), Aaron Cresswell (West Ham), Enoch Mwepu (Brighton), Miguel Almirón (Newcastle), Connor Roberts (Burnley), Granit Xhaka (Arsenal) and Rodri (Man City).
