Charlie Taylor expressed no concern at the long journey down South as he becomes Southampton's third summer signing.

The 30-year-old experienced left-back, whose career began at Leeds United with a seven-year stay at Burnley his most recent move, has journeyed 260 miles to the South Coast for his latest venture.

"It just feels the right fit." he shared, "everyone I spoke to about the club have only got great words to say. I'm so excited and can't wait to get started."

"Ever since I've come down here, I've just had a good feel, good people. It's a huge club, back in the Premier League, and just a good experience for me."

Taylor arrives from a Burnley side that suffered relegation last season, ending his seven-year stay that had been full of consistency with 161 top flight appearances.

He gained a wealth of experience with the Clarets, however, in a side that finished seventh and reached the Europa League qualifying, survived relegation battles, and won promotion back from the Championship in his time there.

"The Premier League is probably the best league in the world, it's such a tough league with outstanding quality every week so I know how hard it is to be in that league and to stay up." Taylor admitted, speaking ahead of Saints' return after winning promotion last season.

"I fully believe that we can [survive] this year with the squad and the management that we've got here.

"I spoke on the phone briefly to begin with [Russell Martin] and straight away he really impressed me, just the way he talks about football is the way I like to see it as well.

"The people I spoke to who know him as well only had good things to say, and I think him being the manager was a massive pulling point as well.

"There's no reason at all why this club can't stay up and progress even more."
