Saints Women shine at On Her Side awards

Southampton Women’s Kayla Rendell and Milly Mott both took home the highest honour at the inaugural On Her Side awards.

The event celebrated the achievement of women in football across all levels of the game while recognising people who have contributed to the growth of the game.

Kayla Rendell was voted Barclays Women’s Championship Goalkeeper of the Season at the awards,

Rendell played in all but one of Southampton’s Championship matches this season, helping the team to an impressive sixth place finish in their first year in the league.

Milly Mott was also crowned champion at the awards, claiming the Women’s Championship Rising Star award.

Just 19 years old, Mott has become an integral part of Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side, making a total of 20 appearances in league competition during the 2022/23 season.

Honourable mentions were also given to Ella Morris, Rosie Parnell and Marieanne Spacey-Cale who all made the top three in their categories.

Ella Morris came second in the Women’s Championships Player of the Season vote, Rosie Parnell claimed third in the Women’s Championship Unsung Hero category while boss Marieanne Spacey-Cale was awarded second place in the Manager of the Season vote.
