Southampton FC Women land Sophie Harris
Southampton FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Sophie Harris ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Most recently playing with Leicester City in their Championship winning season, 27-year-old Harris has spent time with Watford and Lewes, as well as Brighton and Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League.
Coming up through Arsenal’s youth system, she was part of the WSL and Continental Cup winning side, and has also featured in Champions League squads for the Gunners.
Following her time at Arsenal, she joined London Bees, spending four years with the fellow London club, making 48 appearances during her time there.
Harris also has international experience, representing England Under-20s earlier in her career.
Talking about her newest signing, Marieanne Spacey-Cale noted:
“Sophie was the ideal person to come in for us. She’s a really high quality goalkeeper who’s played at the highest level in the Women’s Super League.
“Kayla is a fantastic goalkeeper and Sophie is coming in to challenge her but they’re already bonding and the level of the goalkeeping sessions has shot up; she’s bringing in that quality and competition element which can only help that goalkeepers union thrive.”
