Smallbone: Two big games to come
Southampton midfielder Will Smallbone is already looking ahead to a busy week of opportunity for his side, following Saturday's 1-1 draw at Huddersfield in the Sky Bet Championship.
Despite a dominant first half the visitors only had the one goal to show from it; Adam Armstrong netting his tenth of the season during stoppage time of the opening 45.
Huddersfield came out for the second with a new lease of life, soon grabbing a deserved leveller through Ben Jackson.
For Smallbone, the change in tide as the game went on was a source of frustration: "First half the game looked exactly how we wanted it to, how we planned for.
"We moved the ball well, created chances. To get the goal on half time was a real positive for us going into the break.
"Second half we maybe started a bit slower and played into their hands a little bit. If we want to be the team we want to be and want to be the team we want to get to be it’s important we put together 90 minute performances.
"For 45, 60 minutes we seem to put in a real good performance but to span that over the full game is something we need to strive towards and I believe we will over the next few games and weeks.
"Disappointed with the day’s result but we have two more big games coming up this week to put things right. That’s the beauty of the Championship, the games come so thick and fast. You can move on and look to keep going."
