A team of Saints legends kept the good feelings around the club going as they turned out in a special charity match on the Isle of Wight on Saturday afternoon.

Less than 24 hours after many of them had been at St Mary’s to watch Russell Martin’s side beat West Brom to reach the Championship play-off final, the former Southampton stars took on an Isle of Wight legends side to raise vital funds for Newport (IOW) FC and Cowes Sports.

Among those pulling on the red and white stripes were Rickie Lambert, Shane Long, James Beattie, Matt Oakley, Jo Tessem, Andrew Surman, David Hughes, Nicky Banger, Brian Howard and goalkeeper Maik Taylor, delighting the crowds at Westwood Park, in Cowes.

Saints chief executive Phil Parsons was also involved and among the special guests who laced their boots up and took part, as people from the club's past and present came together for the event, which also included Saints Events among its sponsors.
