Former Saints Women's skipper and promotion winner Rosie Parnell has been announced as the newest Saints Foundation ambassador.

After retiring from playing in the summer, the lifelong Saint will now become a regular feature with the charity of the football club as she joins the likes of Franny Benali and James Beattie in the Ambassador team.

As announced pre-match as Southampton FC Women’s team welcomed WSL giants Arsenal to St Mary’s in their final pre-season game, this role will see her visiting projects and supporting events throughout the Foundation.

Joining the Southampton Centre of Excellence between the ages of 9 and 12, Rosie would later drop down two divisions to join her childhood club in 2019 to play an integral part in consecutive promotions.

Named as club captain as the Saints embarked on their first season as a professional side, she would lead the club through two seasons chasing promotion in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

Rosie said: “As a lifelong fan, it was an honour to represent Saints on the pitch for the last five years, so I can’t wait to now represent Saints Foundation in the community and the city I love.

“I have seen a lot of the impact Saints Foundation has on so many, and this feels like the perfect time to get involved and support the cause.”

Growing up in the city, Rosie attended one of the schools Saints Foundation work with through their Community Champions programme, and has shown a keen interest in the work Saints Foundation do in schools as well as their Gender Equality projects.
