Saints complete deal for Matsuki
Southampton Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of Japanese midfielder Kuryu Matsuki on a four-year contract.
The 21-year-old, who joins from FC Tokyo, will spend the forthcoming 2024/25 season on loan at Göztepe in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Matsuki has captained his country at Under-20 level and has 18 caps for the Under-23 team, helping them win the Asian Cup earlier this year having featured in all six of Japan’s matches during the tournament.
At club level, Matsuki has made more than 50 appearances in the J.League and was named AFC Youth Player of the Year for his performances in the 2023 season.
An energetic ball-winning midfielder with an eye for goal, we look forward to monitoring Kuryu’s progress with Göztepe and welcoming him to the Southampton family.
