Southampton FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of defender Paige Peake from Ipswich Town Women.

Starting her footballing career at Ipswich Town’s Centre of Excellence, 19-year-old Peake had a brief spell with Essex COE before returning to the Tractor Girls’ WSL Academy setup.

Proving herself for the young Tractor Girls, Peake was handed her first team debut in the opening game of the 2019/20 season, establishing herself as a regular in Joe Sheehan’s side.

Peake featured heavily in the Tractor Girls side that pushed Saints for the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier promotion spot during the 2021/22 season, becoming just the second women’s player to sign professional terms with the club and scoring a penalty in the most recent encounter between the two sides in which Saints came out 2-1 winners.

On the international stage, Peake has been a regular face within the Lionesses youth setup, winning caps from U15 level up until more recent involvement with England U19s.

Head of Girls' and Women's Football Marieanne Spacey-Cale is excited by the new addition to the squad, saying:

"Paige is a player that I’ve admired since playing Ipswich Town last season. She’s a fantastic addition to the squad; She brings set peice expertise, she’s a strong defender and she reads the game really well. She’ll add absolute value and quality to this squad."

Peake is the first signing to strengthen Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side ahead of their debut in the Barclays Women’s Championship, with the squad now back in training and their first pre-season test against Celtic less than two weeks away.
