WHAT’S AT STAKE?

After a testing period for Saints on the pitch, Russell Martin will relish the opportunity to put things right so soon following Friday night.

With the nature of both defeats either side of the international break, Saints will look at Tuesday night as a chance to regain some stability, confidence, and positivity in front of the home crowd.

But it won’t be easy against a high-flying Ipswich side, who go into the fixture third in the Championship with five wins from their opening six.

Although just a narrow victory on Saturday at struggling Sheffield Wednesday, the 1-0 victory brought their third clean sheet as their defensive stability continues to prove key to their early season form.

TEAM NEWS

Martin confirmed the club's appeal against the red card given to Kamaldeen Sulemana on Friday night was rescinded, meaning he'll be in contention on Tuesday night.

Jan Bednarek also returns to the squad after picking up an injury on international duty with Poland, but Flynn Downes will be "touch and go" after picking up a knock against Leicester City.

Tractor Boys manager Kieran McKenna confirmed on Monday Morning that left back Leif Davis will be assessed following an ankle injury picked up on Saturday, but otherwise reports a clean bill of health ahead of the trip.

THE MANAGERS

Kieran McKenna: "It'll be a great game, no doubt about it. I know [Saints] haven't had two favourable results in the last two games but they have top, top players, big club, great game for us.

"We need to give them the respect their quality deserves and at the same time keep our bravery and our confidence."

Russell Martin: "I've been really impressed with [Ipswich], really methodical in their approach and how they tweak things for different oppositions.

"But we are at home and we need to bounce back and any opposition we could be playing tomorrow, it really doesn't matter, we need to bring the best version of ourselves on the pitch as much as we can."

ONES TO WATCH

Sam Edozie: With two goals in his last two appearances at St Mary’s Stadium, Edozie is slowly finding that end product which could prove him to be so effective for Saints offensively.

His direct running style, close control and ability to link up well with both Adam Armstrong and Ché Adams was Saints’ key attacking triangle on Friday night, something they’ll be hoping to tap into with more regularity on Tuesday.

Nathan Broadhead: Described as having the "X Factor in the final third" by Ipswich expert Stuart Watson, the 25-year-old has been involved in every positive as far as the Tractor Boys are concerned.

With four goal involvements in the opening six games, the 25-year-old proves to be the heartbeat of the team which has scored the third most goals in the division (11).
