Martin: We need to bring energy
Readying for a third game in the space of the week, manager Russell Martin is prioritising ‘energy’ on the pitch for the visit of Birmingham on Saturday.
Having travelled to Hull and Preston in the last seven days, Saints are back at St Mary’s this weekend with Martin hinting at further changes, having made five at Deepdale on Wednesday night.
“We have to take into account all the travelling,” he said. “Some tired bodies and some tired minds, so mentally and physically we have to get them as ready as we possibly can.
“I think we’ve had a good balance between work and recovery over the last couple of days, so I’m sure there will be changes, but we need to bring a lot of energy onto the pitch.
“We had to make changes this week at some point to make sure we can do that and I’m confident whatever team we put out we will approach it in the right way and with the right energy to try and win the game.”
