Preparing for a third consecutive two-game week, Russell Martin will “wait and see” who makes his starting eleven when Preston head to St Mary’s on Tuesday night.

Naming an unchanged line-up for a second game in a row for Saturday’s thrilling 3-2 win over Watford, the Saints boss will assess his players’ fitness before naming his 11.

“There’s some tired bodies and tired minds,” he began. “I was exhausted on Sunday let alone what the players were feeling from that and the emotion we all felt and how it happened. We have a brilliant group of players as well, so it’s up to us to use the quality of the squad but also determine which are the best players for this game.

“The players for the last two have done brilliantly, so we’ll wait and see tomorrow and see how they feel, see how we feel, and hopefully whatever team we put out will be one that’s confident it can win as it’s another tough challenge for us.”
