Martin nominated for Manager of the Month
For a third successive month, manager Russell Martin has been shortlisted for the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award.
From seven games in December, Martin guided Saints to 17 points with five wins and two draws, including a 5-0 thumping of Swansea and a 4-0 demolition of Blackburn at St Mary’s.
Leapfrogging Leeds up into third and reducing the gap to second-placed Ipswich to just three points, the festive period was a fruitful one for Martin’s side.
The other managers in contention are Enzo Maresca (Leicester), Mark Robins (Coventry) and Danny Röhl (Sheffield Wednesday).
The winner will be announced on Friday 12th January, with the judging panel comprising of former Barnsley manager Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
