Double goalscorer Sékou Mara said Southampton's progression in the Emirates FA Cup comes down to the work at Staplewood Campus, seeing off Watford with a 3-0 victory.

After a frustrating first half in torrential conditions at St Mary's Stadium a much improved Saints came out for the second half.

The deadlock was broken by Mara on 52 minutes, before the youngster added his second six minutes later. Ché Adams rounding off the scoring with 14 to go.

"I think we made the game hard [in the first half]," reflected Mara. "In the second half we put more intensity [into our game] and our mentality changed. We were not at the same level.

"It’s all about what we put into training, we work hard and have a good relationship together. I think we deserve to be unbeaten for 24 games.

"I think it’s all about work [for me too]. I work hard in training; we worked a lot on my finishing and that’s only instinct when it comes in my game.

"It’s really nice for me, I enjoy it. For my confidence, as well, it’s really important for me to play."
