It was certainly a baptism of fire in the National League for Jack Bycroft at Aldershot Town.
The Shots hosted title favourites Chesterfield, with the Saints keeper making his debut between the sticks and featuring for the full 90.
It turned out to be a thriller at The EBB Stadium, Bycroft's Aldershot falling to a 4-3 defeat.
Down a division in the National League South and there was another debutant in Matt Carson, who featured for Braintree Town during their home win over Worthing.
Carson was substituted with ten minutes remaining as The Iron knocked the visiting league leaders off the top in emphatic style with a 4-0 victory.
Defeat for Worthing at Braintee, and a second successive clean sheet for keeper Ollie Wright, meant itwasBath City who took top spot, following a 2-0 win at home to Havant and Waterlooville.
Over to Turkey's TFF First League, where fellow goalkeeper Mateusz Lis secured his second shut out of the season as GΓΆztepe claimed their first win of the season at Altay.
Finally there were debuts for Romain Perraud at Nice in Ligue 1 and Lyanco at AL-Gharafa in the Qatars Stars League.
