Nathan Jones has confirmed his Southampton squad is primed and ready for an important trip to the capital as they face Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, with no fresh injury concerns to report.

After a string of double fixture weeks with both league and cup clashes, the boss will have a wider squad to choose from with less game-management tactics needed in the coming weeks.

“We want to go as strong as we can. We’ve changed in terms of getting the freshest, most physical side on the pitch that we can be in the games now it’s Saturday, Saturday so we have to go as strong as we possibly can.

“In terms of not looking after [a player], in terms of not looking at the next game or anything now. It’s solely about picking the best team and picking the team to try and get a result.”

With Southampton’s B team taking on Sheffield United in the Premier League Cup, a number of players have been handed minutes to aid their match fitness but can still feature in Saturday’s match.

“We’ve got a real squad. Obviously, Stuart Armstrong and Juan Larios are closer. Those who need minutes will get minutes today and then we’ll have a full squad to go to tomorrow.”

With regards to Southampton’s deadline day signings, Paul Onuachu and Kamaldeen Sulemana, it remains unclear if the two will feature.

“We're unsure yet because it's all about work permits. Hopefully in the not-too-distant future we will see them.

“They’re in the building but it’s just limited in what we can do with them because of the work permit situation.”
