Ahead of four games in 12 days for his side, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhüttl spoke on the importance of using his squad and the options available.

Following Wednesday night's meeting with West Ham at St Mary's in the FA Cup, Saints face Aston Villa away from home in league action before a double bill of home games the following week with Newcastle and Watford the visitors.

With the amount of minutes in such a short space of time, the manager reiterated the importance of using all the options available to him within the squad.

"You always have to look [at your squad]," said Hasenhüttl. "We've had an intense time already and have an intense two weeks to come, so we have to have balance.

"We have players who don't struggle with playing two, three games a week. But we also have some who will be at a high risk of injury.

"It's important you give other players the chance and in the FA Cup you have the option of five substitutes too. That's another chance to give others a chance."

The manager confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Wednesday night, with Nathan Tella, Alex McCarthy and Lyanco remaining out.
