Forever Saint Award: Club historians
Southampton club historians Duncan Holley, Gary Chalk and David Bull were the latest recipients of the Forever Saint award, with the trio being honoured at half-time during the game against Chelsea.
The group have been documenting the history of the club for about 40 years now, publishing a host of impressive books covering an incredible variety of topics that have seen them delve all the way back into Saints’ past, covering everything from its formation in 1885 through to the present day.
Both Duncan and Gary were on hand to receive the award, which celebrates incredible contributions made both at Saints and in the community by ex-players, club servants and community champions.
Duncan Holley, who also runs the saintsplayers.co.uk website, described himself as “incredibly proud” to receive the honour.
Speaking about the importance of highlighting the club’s history, he added: “It’s absolutely vital. Everything that goes on is about the past, and we’ve got a wonderful 125 year history we have to learn about.”
