Southampton winger Samuel Edozie has been included in England’s Under-20 World Cup squad for the upcoming tournament in Argentina, which gets under way next weekend.

The Young Lions begin their campaign against Tunisia on Monday 22nd May against Tunisia, before facing Uruguay on Thursday 25th May and Iraq on Sunday 28th May, with all three group games taking place at the 53,000-capacity Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata, which will also host both semi-finals and the final.

Sixteen of the 24 nations taking part will progress to the knockout stages, where Edozie will hope to emulate Saints teammates Kyle Walker-Peters, Adam Armstrong and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who were all members of England’s victorious 2017 squad.

England did not qualify for the last tournament in 2019, which was won by Ukraine, before the 2021 edition was cancelled due to Covid.

Edozie, 20, is joined in the squad by Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, Manchester City’s Liam Delap and Bristol City star Alex Scott, who was recently crowned EFL Championship Young Player of the Year.
