Edozie and Young Lions kickstart U20 World Cup campaign
Sam Edozie and England’s Young Lions kicked their FIFA Under 20 World Cup campaign off with a win as they secured victory over Tunisia on Monday.
Dane Scarlett’s first half header was enough for England’s youngsters to secure three points in their opening game of the competition.
Edozie played 75 minutes at Estadio Unico Diego Armando Maradona in La Plata, with the Saints youngster showing his prowess from the off in Argentina.
Leading the attack down the wing for much of the game, Edozie combined with Alfie Devine in the 68th minute in a move that almost led to England’s second goal of the contest, though Devine’s effort edged inches wide of the far post.
Ian Foster’s side will be looking to replicate the success of six years ago where Paul Simpson led England’s Under 20s to victory in 2017.
The Young Lions next face Group E leaders Uruguay on Thursday 25th May before rounding of their Group E campaign against Iraq on Sunday 28th May, with both games scheduled to kick off at 7pm BST.
