Bazunu and Smallbone star in EUROs qualifying win
Southampton's Gavin Bazunu and Will Smallbone continued their UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying campaign for Republic of Ireland as they bounced back with a win against Gibraltar.
Both Bazunu and Smallbone started at the Aviva Stadium as the The Boys in Green returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 triumph in Group B.
Smallbone played 72 minutes and had a hand in the opening goal of the evening as his free-kick was deflected into the path of Celtic's Mikey Johnston who had the simplest of finishes to put his nation ahead.
Saints' young midfielder also featured in a team move that set up the second goal as Brighton's Evan Ferguson notched his first competitive strike to extend the lead before the hour mark.
Smallbone was substituted before Norwich City's Adam Idah added a third in stoppage time, with Bazunu largely untroubled between the sticks as he kept a clean sheet.
