Armstrong: We have belief right to the end
Stuart Armstrong said his late leveller at Watford in the Emirates FA Cup showcased the "character of the team", as Southampton secured a replay which kept them in the competition.
Watford took an early lead inside five minutes when Matheus Martins' free kick caught out Joe Lumley at his near post.
It took until the 89th minute for Saints to find a response, despite shading the possession 70 to 30. Stuart Armstrong finding the ball on the edge of the box, taking a touch, before wrong footing Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann.
"I think that should come across in games that we do have belief right to the very end moment," said the Scot. "There's been a few games that we've stolen points from teams that may feel a bit hard done by.
"But I think that just speaks to the character of the team and the willingness to fight to the very end. Even when we scored the equaliser I think the belief within the group was that we could go on and win. That's something we need to continue to harness.
"[The FA Cup] is a great competition to be involved in, a special one. Even though there's so many games as players we want to keep going and continuing to go as far as we can.
"A home tie is nice, even though it's an extra game, and it looks like we're playing, if we progress, Liverpool so that could be a nice tie. But first and foremost we need to beat a Watford side that has two draws now, so there's probably a bit of a grudge there for the next time we play.
