Armstrong on “horrible” finale
Stuart Armstrong admits Saints will leave Watford with a sour taste in their mouth despite their unbeaten run extending to 12 matches.
Russell Martin’s side looked on course for all three points when Ché Adams broke the deadlock, only for Rhys Healey to equalise in the 96th minute.
Conceding for the first time in three matches, Armstrong reflected on what felt like two points dropped.
“Obviously [we feel] disappointed,” he began. “A horrible finish when you lead for so long, and second half in particular I thought we were very good, so to leave with the one point when you feel you deserve three is always going to hurt.
“Second half, yeah, I thought we were very good. First half, not so good. We struggled to really implement the way we wanted to play but we changed a few things at half time that opened up a few more opportunities for us and we grew into the game.
“To lose a goal so late on is always hurtful but it’s still a draw, it’s still a point and we move on to the next game.
Heading into a busy week with Coventry away on Wednesday before hosting Blackburn next weekend, Armstrong looked ahead.
“Being 12 unbeaten is great and we need to keep that going and keep putting pressure on those at the front, so it’s a big week for us. We want to bounce back with a win and another strong performance.”
