Fresh from scoring his first Premier League goal of the season, Cameron Archer feels Saints need to play with more courage after succumbing to an Arsenal comeback at the Emirates on Saturday.

After a resolute defensive performance kept the score level at the halfway stage, Archer’s well-taken strike on 55 minutes hinted at a potential upset in the capital.

However, Kai Havertz levelled just three minutes later before Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka ensured the hosts claimed victory.

Despite producing an encouraging performance, Archer feels there still needs to be more.

“First half, we defended really good,” he began. “Went into the second half, discussed what we were doing well, what we weren’t doing well, the second half came and we came out and asked a few more questions.

“We created a bit more, a few more chances, and then obviously got the goal. I think three minutes after, they score, and it kind of takes that energy away from us a little bit.

“I think we need to stop doing this, we need to play with a lot more courage. It's not the end of the game when they score, so if we do play with that more courage, I think we can score more goals and win more games.

“That’s what football is all about, the fine margins. Like I said, I think the second half we defended really well. We need to cut out these mistakes as well, it’s been the main thing this season for us. I think if we do that, I feel like results can come.”
