Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Moi Elyounoussi and Jan Bednarek all return to EURO 2020 Qualifying action tonight at 7.45pm GMT, with two of that trio looking to improve on disappointing results on Friday night.

Højbjerg’s Denmark will have identified a possible six points from their double header against Ireland and Georgia on home turf in Copenhagen but could only draw with Mick McCarthy’s side.

The Saints captain scored his second goal in three international games to put the hosts in front, only for Brighton’s Shane Duffy to equalise late on and maintain Ireland’s unbeaten start to qualifying to leave the Danes five points behind them in Group D.

They will be hoping that third-place Georgia will be less stubborn opponents; although they currently sit one spot above Denmark, their only three points of the campaign so far came against Gibraltar followed by consecutive defeats to Switzerland and Ireland.

Likewise, Moi Elyounoussi’s Norway will go in search of a much-needed boost for their own qualification chances in the Faroe Islands.

Two-goal leads have been wasted in two matches in a row against Sweden (3-3) and Romania (2-2), the latter in the final 15 minutes in Oslo on Friday. Saints’ Elyounoussi was an unused substitute on the night.

Bednarek’s Poland on the other hand are one of five teams to have made a perfect start to qualifying; they face Israel in Warsaw with the chance to go five points clear of their visitors who themselves hold a healthy lead over North Macedonia and Austria behind them.
